blues day

Totally diggin this plate I found in THIS shop… Guess blue is on the brain because it looks like my new blue: In other news, I am kinda BLUE today anyway for 2 reasons: 1.  Sometimes a piece of furniture just doesn’t work out like I picture it….FOR EXAMPLE: No. 14 is actually complete (the one with the map). But the top didn’t turn out how I wanted it…which may not be bad….but I haven’t decided on it yet. A Read More

a horse of course

It is really my mom who is the lover of horses….I grew up with 3 of them (horses, not moms). But I keep coming across this photographer and the images, to me, are striking. I am trying to narrow down my favorite because I would LOVE to have an extra large print…like this one: It is images like these that give me inspiration…such beautiful composition of grays and whites…. TAILED BLUE by Jennifer Meyers…please stop by her shop. And if Read More

Look at this: grandma’s quilt

We just recently inherited this quilt made by Nathan’s grandma. It was left in her home after she passed, along with a bunch of others that she made. I feel so blessed to have known her and to have a little something made by her means the world to me. You had a sneak peek last week as it posed next to No. 19… You can see it has been used and worn, but for us, its perfect. I am Read More

{reclaim it} crate and color

{Tea for Joy} {Lykke Lise} Decorating with old crates is a thing now. Nothing new. But these images of PAINTED CRATES have caught my eye lately. Maybe its because we have a FANTASTIC old crate just sitting on the front porch being neglected- sad story, I know. We found it like this (courtesy of Nathan’s brother): It had no bottom to it, so we found some old boards and attached them. Easy peezy. It has even been in a few Read More

No. 19 Gray Night Stand

No. 19 {perfect size & shape}

I have a handsome No. 19 in our shop today… Here he is BEFORE his treatment:  (Solid? Yes. But a looker, he was NOT.) Never fear. He came out on the other side JUST fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine… I experimented a bit with the drawers thinking I would stain them and keep them like this… In the end, the look was too busy for such a simple dresser. SOOOoo…I covered the whole piece. And it is fantastic. I just think No. 19 should Read More

old school

We found this on the side of the road. You can kind of see why it was tossed to the curb. The little guy needs some serious help. The wood is actually pretty solid, so I think it could be great… {via Norskeinterior} Not sure If I will paint it WHITE or go with COLOR or even REFINISH the wood. Thoughts? -s

{reclaim it} a pallet and a dream

{image via remodelista} Have i ever told you about my dream? Here it goes. If I had my dream, I would live on the coast of southern italy with my family and own a scooter rental business- just like the girl at the end of the Bourne Identity movie. My kitchen would look like this and I would love it. I would be super tan and carefree and I would be awesome enough to use a PALLET to hold my Read More

{before & after} barnwood table

Our little table is complete! It is soooo beautiful. When we first collected the wood, it looked like this: And NOW, it looks like this!! AHHHHHHHH! I love it! We don’t really have chairs- ha! {these I just stuck there for the photos}. Our plan is to have a bench for the kids on one side and 2 chairs for us on the other. Its small and narrow and really just for our tiny fam so we don’t have to Read More
